I think I'll have to delay surgery :(

Just got a phone call from the hospital today to say that my mother will be undergoing her heart surgery in the 1st or 2nd week of January (not 100% yet), so I have a feeling as this will delay my surgery as she will be out of action for a few weeks/months until she is fully recovered.

The other downside is that I won't actually be here when she might be going in, as I'm going away to Mildura and Sydney and won't be home until 7 January.

Do you think I should therefore proceed with everything or put the whole lot on hold?

To shop or not to shop?

I'm in dire needs of new pants for work.  I did buy some from Autograph last week for $25 (bargain!) and would love another pair, but unsure whether I should get smaller sizes, seeing as by hopefully end of February next year, I won't be needing larger sizes.

What do y'all think?

Why is it that...

Those people who tell you to lose weight have never had an issue with their own weight.  They tell you to do this and do that, try this and try that.

Enough already.

I'm not into miraculous pills to help you reduce fat and lose weight.  They're all just a gimmick and short term solutions.

I'm ready for something permanent.

Hence the surgery.

Sleep Study...part 2

Along with my sleep study, I am to be reviewed by the specialist for the results of the said study.

That takes place on 31 January.

So at the moment, I'm on track to hopefully have my surgery at the end of February.

Yay!

Sleep Study...booked

So the hospital called me earlier today to arrange a sleep study.  Seeing as I haven't been booked for surgery, I'm surprised about this test.  I mean, the surgeon did mention it, but I didn't think this would take place yet.

So I'm booked my mini vacation on 10th January 2012 and in the weeks following will see the sleep specialist to discuss the results.

Apparently I snore.

That is the reason for the study.

Plus sleep apnoea is an issue in those of us who are morbidly obese.

Another step closer to the surgery.

Last Christmas

So with Christmas fast approaching, I've just realised that this will be the last Christmas where I'll be able to pig out, as hopefully in February, I'll be banded.  Not that it'll be an excuse to eat in excess, but just the fact that I won't be able to eat a lot of the foods that we have on offer...and it's alot when you factor in lunch, visiting family and then dinner.

Something I'll have to come to terms with I guess.

So I've told my family...

Last week I decided to tell my family of my plans for surgery and whilst my mother and sister really don't agree with me, they are supportive of my decision.  My father doesn't want me to have the surgery, instead do it with diet and exercise.  He said that both my mother and himself will help cook healthy meals etc and that every morning I will go on walks with him.

I'm hoping that eventually he'll come around to the idea of surgery.

After all, in the end, it is my choice.  Like someone said on another forum, I'm not asking their permission.

I have an appointment to see the dietician and nurse co-ordinator in January next year.  See what happens then.

I have taken the first step

I went and saw the surgeon yesterday and discussed the procedure of laparoscopic banding.

He also discussed with me the sleeve procedure.

I told him the permanency of the sleeve freaked me out, not that I'd want to have the band removed, but you know.

I asked him that if I were to proceed with the surgery, when could I get in.  Basically it's pick a date.  I'm going to hold off until after the Christmas/New Year period.  Let me indulge just that once more.

I know it'll sound like I'm making excuses, but I have my niece's 1st birthday in January and a going away party in February.  They are my 2 major events at the start of the year.

Got a bit of decision making to do.
